Synopsis

These ANNALS demonstrate the potential of agrarian geography produced in Ceará. The 1st Meeting on Agrarian Geography of Ceará, with the theme: Dilemmas of the Agrarian Space of Ceará: Land and Water for Whom?, brought together students, teachers, social movements, rural people, non-governmental organizations and social activists to reflect on the dilemmas of the use and domination of land and water in Ceará. Through lectures, mini-courses, workshops, presentations of works and photographic exhibitions, the agrarian issue of Ceará was problematized, discussed and strengthened. One of the results of this event is the diversity, depth and richness of the texts found in this book, which systematize research, experiences and other production of knowledge in progress in the agrarian space of Ceará.

Author Biographies

Camila Dutra dos Santos, Universidade Estadual do Ceará (UECE)

PhD, Master and Bachelor's Degree in Geography from the State University of Ceará (UECE). Professor of the Undergraduate Courses in Geography (UECE) and the Graduate Program in Geography (ProPGeo/UECE). Coordinator of NATERRA - Research and Articulation Group on Field, Land and Territory (UECE/CNPq) and LECANTE - Laboratory of Studies on Field, Nature and Territory (UECE). She has experience in research in the area of ​​Human Geography, with an emphasis on Agrarian Geography, working mainly on the following themes: agrarian issue, traditional communities and peoples, territorial and socio-environmental conflicts, peasant agriculture, impacts of agribusiness, resistance to the territorialization of capital in the countryside, gender and agroecology.

Francisco Amaro Gomes de Alencar, Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)

Bachelor's degree in Geography from the State University of Ceará, Master's degree in Development and Environment from the Federal University of Ceará and PhD in Sociology from the Federal University of Ceará. He worked as a geographer at the Institute for Agrarian Development of Ceará (IDACE). Retired professor of the Department of Geography of the Federal University of Ceará. He has experience in the area of ​​Geography, with emphasis on Agrarian Geography, in the following themes: rural settlement, agrarian issue, agrarian reform programs and management in rural settlements.

José Levi Furtado Sampaio, Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)

He holds a degree in Geography from the Federal University of Ceará, a Master's degree in Geography from the Federal University of Pernambuco and a PhD in Human Geography from the University of São Paulo; Post-doctorate at the Federal University of Bahia, with the Postgraduate Program - GeografAR Project. Retired professor of the Department of Geography of the Federal University of Ceará. He has experience in the area of ​​Geosciences, Human Sciences with an emphasis on Agrarian Geography, working mainly on the following themes: agrarian space, settlements, society-nature relations, quilombolas, indigenous people, fishermen, rural education and environmental education.
