Synopsis

The Graduate Program in Geography (PPGGEO) of the Federal University of Piauí proudly presents volume 6 of the Geography in Debate series. This work, focused on research that falls within the theme of environmental management of rural/urban territory and tourism, has 9 chapters originating from research carried out by students and professors linked to the Program. More than an overview of this research, the series contributes with subsidies for a better-founded discussion that highlights the singularities of the Piauí landscapes, the places and their daily lives, the problems and contradictions of the territories and the emerging territorialities.

Author Biographies

Gustavo Souza Valladares, Universidade Federal do Piauí (UFPI)

Graduated in Agronomy, Master's and Doctorate in Soil Science, from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (2003). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Piauí. He is Professor of the Master's program in Geography at UFPI and of the Doctorate in Development and Environment at UFPI in network. He is a Postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Geosciences at Unicamp. Between 2002 and 2008, he was a researcher at Embrapa in the field of soil genesis and classification. Between 2009 and 2011 UFC professor. He has experience in Soil Science, with emphasis on Soil Genesis, Morphology and Classification and Geoprocessing, working mainly on the following topics: pedological mapping, soil chemistry, management, organosol, geoprocessing, soil quality and agricultural aptitude.

Carlos Sait Pereira de Andrade, Universidade Federal do Piauí (UFPI)

He holds a PhD in Geography from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2009), a Master's in Geography from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2000), a degree in Geography from the Federal University of Piauí (1989). He has been professor of Geography at the Federal University of Piauí since 1992. Effective Member of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Piauiense. He has experience in Geography, with emphasis on Climatology and Urban Climate, working mainly on the following topics: geographic climatology, urban climate and physical geography teaching.

Graduated in Full Degree in Geography from IES - State University of Piauí - UESPI (2012-2016). She is currently Pedagogical Supervisor at Senac Piauí. She served as a Geography Teacher at SEDUC-PI, with experience in Elementary and High School from 2015 to 2017. She has experience in the area of Geography, as well as Teaching Geography, Inclusive Education for the visually impaired - AEE (Braille), Environmental Education and Heritage Pedagogies, with an emphasis on studies related to Cultural and Natural Heritage, Geoconservation and Tourism Practice.

She was a PIBIC-CNPq UESPI scholarship holder (2011-2012) with a study on the Piauí coast and a Pibic-UESPI collaborator (2010-2011) with research related to the organization of space in coastal areas. I have experience in fundamental education, producing articles, book chapters, teaching extension courses and workshops. She is part of the research groups GERUR and NECZPI. She has experience in the area of Geography Teaching, landscape analysis, space organization and urban socio-environmental transformations and impacts. She is currently a professor of Environmental Management Pronatec-Novos Caminhos / EAD in technical courses.
