Synopsis

Traveling through the Acaraú Valley through this book and, when possible, also through the “ground”, geographizing society's relations with nature, potential riches and persistent miseries, is a good exercise in learning about a small sample of Brazil's semiarid region. , which needs to be seen and treated with the perspective of a promising future for its persistent residents, especially those who believe and commit themselves through their creativity, initiatives and work forces to make their lives in the “sertão” ever better possible.

Author Biography

José Falcão Sobrinho, Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú (UVA)

Post Doctorate in Geography from the Federal University of Ceará/UFC, PhD in Geography from the University of São Paulo/USP and Master in Geography from the University of Uberlândia/UFU (MG). He is an associate professor of the Geography course. He is currently a Permanent Professor and Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Geography (Academic Master's Degree) – MAG at the Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú/UVA. He coordinates the Semiarid Research and Extension Laboratory and the Research Group: Research and Extension in the semi-arid region (DGP / CNPq) and is part of the Research Chamber of the Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Research at UVA.
