Synopsis

The 1st Brazilian Congress on Didactics of Geography: meanings, elements and the place of language is organized by the Study and Research Group on Space, Teaching and Geography (GEPEEG), of the Department of Geography (DGE), of the Pau dos Ferros Advanced Campus (CAPF), and has the support of the Master's in Teaching of the Postgraduate Program in Teaching (PPGE) of the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN). Its implementation is based on the qualification of the institutional relations of the Master's in Teaching and its strengthening and improvement.

GEPEEG was created in 2012 to address Geography and Geographic Education through the various theories of Jürgen Habermas: politics and deliberative democracy, ethics of discourse, theory of knowledge and, notably, the theory of communicative action.

Between 2021-2022, during the Post-doctorate at the Federal University of Piauí, Prof. Dr. Rosalvo Nobre Carneiro proposed to think about the Didactics of Geography: the technical-scientific-informational period and the linguistic turn, which motivated GEPEEG to discuss the Didactics of Geography, especially in its Brazilian matrix.
