This booklet presents the results of the extension project "Agroecological Transition and Solidarity Economy in the Seridó Potiguar," carried out by the Semi-Arid Territories Research and Extension Group (SEMIAR) in partnership with the Diocesan Caritas of Caicó.
In August 2024, visits were made to the agroecological transition experiences of 10 groups of peasant women located in different communities in the municipalities of Lagoa Nova and Bodó, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte.
The women in these groups benefited from family and collective social technologies implemented by Caritas, contributing to productive diversification, food security, and income generation.
These technologies include economic seedbeds, biowater tanks, and biodigesters, which favor the collective production of agroecological gardens, reflecting the potential of agroecology in promoting better living conditions for women and their families, strengthening Coexistence with the Semi-Arid Region. During community visits, women were asked about the importance of social technologies in their lives and agroecological management practices. Their stories were selected and included in this booklet.
In addition to the women's stories, the booklet also features photographs that demonstrate the daily practice of agroecological management and the use of social technologies disseminated by Cáritas in the communities of the Potiguar Semi-Arid region.
